B Site Inc., the founder of the former Counter-Strike tournament Flashpoint, has begun the process of selling its assets. The company, which held its last CS tournament in May 2021, has entrusted the consulting firm Sherwood Partners to find potential buyers. This decision was made in the context of the impending liquidation of B Site.
Sherwood Partners, a firm specializing in bankruptcies and company closures, has already begun searching for interested parties. They are responsible for selling assets such as social media handles (Twitch, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube), the domain name (Flashpoint.live), and trademarks (Flash Point Rush Frag Repeat, Flashpoint, Get to the Point, The Blind Spot). Applications for participation in the closed bidding are accepted until January 23, 2024, at 17:00 Pacific Time.
Flashpoint was launched in 2019 by B Site as a new tournament format in Counter-Strike, with the goal of addressing economic issues in the game and countering the "monopoly" of ESL tournaments. The project attracted investments from well-known teams such as Cloud9, MIBR, Dignitas, and others, but faced challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced matches to move online.
As of June 2022, according to Jacob Wolf, the management of Flashpoint has effectively been reduced to zero, with only two active board members remaining. Of the eight initial partner teams, only MIBR and Cloud9 remain active in the game.
