Who was forgotten?
What athletes come to your mind when you are asked to name the legends of the past? Does someone call GeT_RiGhT, GuardiaN, or kennyS? In their time, they became champions, made incredible highlights, and were fans' favorites. But only some are lucky. Perhaps there was not enough championship at the major or some scandalous history, but they turned out to be almost forgotten. So today, we'll remind you of five players who were in the limelight in the past but now rarely appear in the news headlines or get big wins.
suNny
MOUZ is one of the tier-1 clubs that never had its full-fledged era. But if we are talking about simply the most successful period, it would be the second half of 2017 and the whole of 2018. At that time, such giants as ropz, chrisJ, and Myikka suNny Kemppi performed for mousesports. That roster won ESL One: New York 2018, V4 Future Sports Festival - Budapest 2018, and StarLadder & i-League StarSeries Season 4 against NAVI.
At the end of 2019, the management of ENCE, with his help, also wanted to save the team after the internal conflict and the departure of captain Aleksib. Unfortunately, an attempt to correct the situation failed, and since then, he played only for GORILLAZ, which became TITANS. Miikka is now a free agent, but it doesn't look like big clubs are chasing him.
Cajunb
There is not much to hear about the Danish star René cajunb Borge. The 33-year-old athlete entered the top twenty players in CS:GO in 2015 and won several tournaments, for example, EPICENTER 2016, as part of Dignitas. He earned over $430,000 in prize money, playing for famous clubs, including TSM, Astralis, Optic Gaming, Cloud9, and North, but never became a Major champion. Either age is taking its toll, or the motivation is no longer the same, but now Cajunb is without a team. His last team was AGF, but since the end of 2021, he has been on the bench.
The last time he reminded of himself was in September of last year. Then, he performed together with the Astralis Academy. So if he liked to work with young talents, but he doesn't want to leave CS:GO, why wouldn't he try on the role of a coach?
Twist
Swede Simon twist Eliasson also represented famous clubs in the past (SK, GODSENT, Fnatic, NIP), but like cajunb, he has yet to become a major champion. And his achievements are more modest than those of the Dane. His peak form was in 2018-2019 when he won several tier-2 tournaments and took second place three times at the prestigious BLAST, StarSeries, and IEM events. However, the most bitter defeat was the final of IEM Sydney, where Fnatic lost to Liquid 2:3.
The last significant achievement for Simon was the victory at the Pinnacle Cup IV the previous year as part of Finest. Finest eventually ceased to exist as an organization, but twist and shokz continue to be together as ex-Finest. The team still competes in tournaments, but Eliasson is already remembered less and less.
Poizon
Once a promising player, the star of Windigo and Complexity, Valentin poizon Vasilev, at 24, was overtaken by fate, performing for national mixes outside the tier-1 stage. Nevertheless, the Bulgarian made a serious achievement twice in a relatively short career. First, he won WESG 2018, with an absurd $500,000 first-place prize for such a tournament, and then BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 European Finals, where Complexity team competed against NAVI, FaZe, and Vitality.
Things went downhill in 2021 when the Bulgarian was kicked out of the American club. After that, there was an attempt to gain a foothold in Fnatic, but he failed to pass the test period. Later nicoodoz became Fnatic's sniper. We hope Valentin will still shine in some other team and not end his career too early.
Sergej
Previously, songs were written about Jere Sergej Salo and other players of the famous ENCE team. The EZ4ENCE music pack was even added to the game, firmly entering the annals of CS:GO folk art. However, the successes of ENCE gradually began to be forgotten. Victory at BLAST Pro Series: Madrid 2019, during the dominance of Astralis, is truly impressive. However, unlike Aleksib, Jere could not break into the tier-1 team after the legendary Finnish roster. As a result, he ended up on the failed TITANS team, which earned $2,500 in prize money.
Much more is being said about Jere's younger brother at present. Unsurprisingly, the 16-year-old MOUZ NXT sniper Jim Jimpphat Salo now has an average rating of 6.8. The young talent has a chance to repeat the success of his older brother. But everything is still ongoing for Sergej, especially since he only has 21 hours left. Even if he does not appear recently in the light of soffits, the comeback is real, especially if he keeps practicing.
