Last night, the captain of The Witchers team, Radion 'fear' Smyk, expressed his emotions on his Telegram channel after a poor performance in the third open qualifier. It was immediately clear that he was very frustrated, and he also accused the team's sniper, Owen 'smooya' Butterfield, of playing for statistics.
Fear recorded several voice messages and also a small text. However, he soon deleted the voice message accusing smooya. It was obvious that everything was said in the heat of the moment.
Yesterday, The Witchers played in the third open qualifiers for the first major in Counter-Strike 2, PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. But in the match for the closed stage, they lost to the team ECSTATIC on the map Ancient.
The Witchers lost the map with a score of 10:13.
Here's what the first voice message from the team captain sounded like:
Everything's calm, it's one o'clock in the morning, we're getting ready, next we lost again to the guys who make it to the closed [qualifiers]. We've lost three times to the guys who make it to the closed and three times just gifted the games. We messed up 2 pistols, 3 in 1.This is a game of mistakes, need to watch the replay, I don't want to watch it again, I can't watch the replay properly, it was fine on the maps - Ancient. It was 7:3, how did we lose from 7:3. I can't remember.
After which there were minor accusations against the team's sniper Owen 'smooya' Butterfield for playing for statistics. Even though he finished the game at the top of the TAB with an average rating of 7.4, all these accusations were made in the heat of the moment.
The proof of this is that fear soon deleted these messages. Then fear tried to understand why they lost this match:
And I realized. 4:4 retake we couldn't hold, and I don't know why Danya went out of default. Default is a very strong position. They had few grenades. It's clear they would be shooting through.I'm just standing on the boost in the meat. I kill one. I have a Molotov cocktail. I could kill, throw a Molotov on short, need to watch.
I don't think they had many grenades. I remember there was even no AWP at 7:3. Need to watch the replay, damn. Nothing to add, just nothing to add.
And he summed it all up by saying that despite some failures, he is still proud of his team, which is making clear progress:
I heard that guys are burning at 7:3(We had to shoot through... needed to suggest to the player who fired that they are between grenades. 7:3 without pistols and with a given 1 in 3 when we played for the frag instead of setting the bomb.
I like the progress, the last qualifier will be decisive. Love this game
The last open qualifier from the European region starts tomorrow, meaning it's the last chance for The Witchers to make it to the coveted RMR.
