Teams Falcons, Eternal Fire, and BIG have decided not to participate in the closed qualifiers for IEM Chengdu for the European region, as confirmed by the ESL organization.
This means that among the participants of the qualifiers, which start on Thursday, BetBoom will remain the only representative from the top twenty teams.
Falcons' decision to abstain was somewhat expected, given their preparation for the quarterfinal match at IEM Katowice against ENCE, scheduled for Friday. While BIG concluded its performance at the Polish tournament in the Play-In stage, Eternal Fire was eliminated during the group stage.
RUBY, Insilio, and FORZE have stepped in to replace the departing teams. The first two teams secured spots in the top four in the second open qualifying round, while the team led by Alexander shalfey Marenov finished in the 5-8 place range.
The closed qualifiers, scheduled from February 8 to 10, will be conducted through a double-elimination system with matches up to two wins. The winner of the qualifiers will take the last spot at IEM Chengdu, which will be the first major event after PGL Major Copenhagen 2024.
The list of teams participating in the qualifying tournament is as follows:
