Nearly half of the sponsors have left Evil Geniuses since November 2022.
Journalist and insider Richard Lewis conducted a study of sponsorship contracts of Evil Geniuses and found that since November 2022, the club has lost five sponsors. Bud Light, Monster Energy, TUMI, Bitcasino.io, and Acer Predator are among them. This is approximately half of the organization's sponsors.
Evil Geniuses have problems not only in CS:GO
This season, the main line-up of Evil Geniuses had a few decent results. The American club has huge problems in discipline, which it has been unable to solve for over a year. But CS:GO is not the only discipline in which EG has issues.
More recently, EG got into a scandal related to one of the popular pro-players of League of Legends, Kyle Danny Sakamaki. The organization did not provide proper care, and after returning from the bootcamp, the player immediately had to consult a doctor because of his terrible physical and mental condition. At the moment, even the publisher Riot Games is investigating this situation.
In addition, everything could be better with Dota 2 in EG. A long-time player of the club and one of the leading names in the discipline, Said Sumail Hassan, sued the organization for breach of contract. The player presented many changes to the club. The jury trial will be held on June 26.
Lately, Evil Geniuses have needed help in all disciplines.
Why are sponsors leaving EG?
The bad reputation of Evil Geniuses is not the only reason why sponsors leave the club. It is rather a catalyst that accelerates their departure. The main problem is that the industry has been experiencing a crisis since the end of last year, which has affected many organizations.
The main lineup of Evil Geniuses in CS:GO is currently performing on the American RMR for BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. All information about the event is available here.
