Evil Geniuses plans to completely exit esports and close all their teams

According to information from SBJ, it has become known today that the North American organization Evil Geniuses plans to completely cease its existence in esports. They recently closed their League of Legends team.

In total, EG had teams in 18 disciplines. Over the 24 years of existence, all the team's line-ups played a total of 1008 championships and earned $28,525,456, which is the fourth-best result in the world. However, the Counter-Strike team managed to earn only $1,292,001.

Former Vice President of Operations and Studio John Jung recently wrote on his Twitter:

Today is my last day at Evil Geniuses. Good luck to all those who were laid off today. It was nice working with you all.

Also, Lindsey Migliore, who held a high position in gameplay and performance, updated her LinkedIn profile, indicating her departure date, suggesting that she has left the company. It is reported that as a result of these changes, more than 20 employees were laid off from a total of about 130 people at Evil Geniuses.

The Seattle-based Evil Geniuses, owned by PEAK6, underwent the resignation of its former CEO Nicole LaPointe Jameson in August last year, shortly after their team's victory in the Valorant World Championship.

According to sources passed on by SBJ, the current wave of layoffs may not be the last, as the organization looked for opportunities for mergers or acquisitions with other companies but has not yet found interested partners.

At the moment, in Counter-Strike 2, EG has its own team, and their last championship was the ESL Challenger at DreamHack Atlanta 2023: North American Qualifier, where they took 2nd place. They are currently participating in the ESL Challenger League Season 46: North America, where they have already made it to the playoffs.
