Everything remains as it was: in Counter-Strike 2, the processor is still more important than the graphics card

The well-known English-speaking data miner for Counter-Strike 2, ThourCS2, proved in his Twitter that in our favorite game, the processor is still more important than the graphics card. Generally, it was the same in CS:GO.

So, the processor is much more important in CS2 than the graphics card. In case you want to upgrade your computer, you should pay attention to this point.

Thour compared two different video adapters on the same processor in CS2 and found that on an i5-12400F, the performance increase from replacing a GTX 1660 TI with an RTX 4060 was only +4.54% to FPS.

  • With the GTX 1660 TI, it was an average of 351 FPS
  • With the RTX 4060, it was an average of 367 FPS

People in the comments also confirm that replacing the GPU didn't really add much to their performance.

ThourCS2:

If someone tells you that @CounterStrike 2 isn't demanding on the processor, they are completely mistaken. Here's a benchmark I ran on my computer.Just under a 5% increase in FPS when switching to a much more powerful graphics card. The reason? The bottleneck in the processor.

It's worth noting that compared to CS:GO, the graphics card in CS2 is much more heavily loaded than in the old version of the game. However, the processor still plays a major role in your FPS.
