The last month of autumn, November, has come to an end, and it's time to look at how Valve's brainchild, namely Counter-Strike 2, is doing. To put it bluntly, it's very sad because the average online player count is only falling each month.
It's worth starting with the fact that Counter-Strike 2 was released on September 27, 2023, and from that moment, one can start counting the average online player count. In September 2023, the average online player count was 976,138 players, which is approximately 5.85% more than the previous month.
But it's also worth remembering that in August 2023, when nearly everyone was still playing CS:GO, the average online was 922,152 players. So, there's practically no difference.
But let's go further. In October, the average online player count decreased by 18.85%! What a fabulous result after the game's release, right? An average of 792,125 players played Counter-Strike 2 in October.
And now, to our days, November. The average online player count is 714,511, which is 9.8% less compared to last month.
And all this is happening because Valve released an unfinished game and began to hastily make updates. And even those updates that are released often need to be fixed by the next one. Moreover, many simply refuse to play CS2 due to the huge number of cheaters.
Until Valve polishes the game, creates a new anti-cheat, or simply launches some operation, there is no point in expecting a return of players.
