ESL has begun investigating the deal between FaZe Clan and Complexity Gaming's parent company, GameSquare. Representatives of the tournament operator shared this information in a comment for the HLTV portal.

We are aware of the acquisition of FaZe Clan by GameSquare and are examining the potential implications this may have on (their participation in) our tournaments and our business relations. If the outcomes of this review lead to any updates, then we will announce those in due course.

At the time of publication, GameSquare has two CS2 teams, and they are likely to compete together. This may cause a conflict of interest. In such a case, one of the teams will not be able to participate in Valve's tournaments if the other team is already included in the list of participants. In 2025, this rule will apply to all major competitions in this discipline, whose results affect the world ranking.
