Tournament organizer ESL announced on their Twitter that they will be transitioning all future tournaments to Counter-Strike 2. As such, the ESL Pro League Season 18 will be the last LAN tournament for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
The full transition to CS2 will commence on the 2nd of October with the ESL ANZ Champs 2023 Season 2. This will be followed by the ESL Challenger Jönköping Qualifiers and the ESL Challenger League Season 46. The first major tournament on the new game version will be the Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2023, scheduled from the 16th to the 22nd of October, boasting a prize pool of $250,000.
With this transition, tournaments will also adapt to the MR12 format. This means that in the ongoing competitions - ESL Challenger League Season 46 North America and Asia, ESL Impact League Season 4 - there will be a mixed match format of MR15 and MR12. If a round difference is recorded in the tiebreakers of these competitions, a decisive match will be played.
