ESIC confirmed that joel had placed bets on CS:GO matches this spring, including matches involving his own team. However, the commission found no evidence of involvement in match fixing.
It has been alleged that, in addition to the betting offences committed by Mr. Holmlund, he also deliberately underperformed in order to win bets where he had bet against his own team. Upon further investigation and assessment, and in the interest of justice, ESIC wishes to clarify that there is no compelling or conclusive evidence that this is true.
joel's former teammate Owen "smooya" Butterfield questioned the already dubious credibility of ESIC within the Counter Strike community. The Briton wondered what evidence the organization had relied upon.
Oh lord, ESIC are going to have to start disclosing evidence found upon banning players or they should no longer have power
The accused player cooperated with the organization while under ban since September. He denies his alleged involvement in 322, but admits that he struggles with a gambling addiction. Previously, he even begged for skins from acquaintances to later lose them. Now, the esports athlete claims to be seeking treatment for his problem, consulting qualified professionals.
joel's ban expires on January 6, 2024, two days before the start of the open qualifiers for RMR. This means there is a chance to see Holmlund at the first CS2 major, although this probability may not be very high.
