A group of enthusiasts from Team AU demonstrated the overclocking potential of the newest Intel i9-14900K processor using Counter-Strike 2 as an example. Its capabilities were showcased during a special event at IEM Sydney 2023 for CS2.
Initially, the i9-14900K processor operates at a frequency of 6 GHz, providing about a thousand frames per second in the updated version of Valve's shooter. However, after overclocking to 8 GHz, with the application of liquid nitrogen, the FPS increased to 1,310. Notably, this is not the limit, as ASUS overclocker, Jon "Elmor" Sandström, previously reached 9.1 GHz. However, it's worth noting that both of these modes are not intended for regular users, as special cooling with liquid nitrogen is necessary for the processor to work stably under such conditions.
The Intel i9-14900K went on sale on October 17 at a price of $600. In the new line of Intel processors, there are six models, and the most affordable among them is the i5-14600KF, which costs half as much as the flagship.
