ENCE, one of the leading teams on the global Counter-Strike scene, will not participate in the Major tournament for the first time since 2019. This happened after their defeat in the match against the Ukrainian team Monte at the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 EU RMR Closed Qualifier A.
Tense struggle on three maps
The match ended with Monte's victory with a score of 2-1. The game was played on three maps:
Ancient: Monte destroyed ENCE with a score of 13-1. Demonstrating absolute dominance, Monte players left their opponents no chance..
Anubis: ENCE managed to get back into the game and won 13-11. This allowed them to continue fighting in the match, but their success was temporary..
Mirage: Monte closed the match with a 13-7 victory, which brought them to 2-2 in the group stage.
MVP of the match
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the match was Sergiy “DemQQ” Demchenko from Monte, who showed excellent results on all three maps. His special efforts on the Ancient map significantly influenced the outcome of the match.
Special moments of the match
The meeting was special because former teammates clashed on the server. Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev faced his former Monte team, while his current Monte teammates, Paweł “dycha” Dycha and Aleksander “hades” Miskiewicz, played against their former ENCE teammates. In addition, several former 9INE teammates took part in the match, including Goofy, Kylar, KEi, hades, and nawrot.
A disappointment for ENCE and a chance for Monte
After this defeat, ENCE left the tournament, while Monte continued their fight in the qualifiers, now with a 2-2 score.
This setback was a serious blow to ENCE, who have been consistently participating in Major tournaments over the past few years and have had good results on the international stage. The absence at Major 2024 will be a bitter disappointment for the team and its fans.
Monte, in turn, has every chance to continue their successful streak and possibly reach the Major. The next matches will show whether they can consolidate their success and make it to the final part of the tournament.
