The girlfriend of Cai "CYPHER" Watson publicly voiced her frustration with Fnatic’s decision to bench her boyfriend shortly after the team qualified for Starladder Budapest Major 2025.
Fnatic secured their Major slot on October 5, after winning Frag Blocktober 2025, earning enough VRS points to qualify for Stage 1 of the event. However, just five days later, on October 10, the organization announced that CYPHER had been moved to the bench, with Mykyta "jackasmo" Skyba joining the lineup on loan. The decision angered not only the player himself but also the community, fans, and his girlfriend.
She reacted sharply to Fnatic’s announcement of the roster change:
Stepping in? What, like Cai stepped down? At least have the decency to say you benched him two days after he helped you make the Major.
She continued in another post, criticizing the organization’s logic:
Fnatic: ‘Let’s bring Cypher in to help us qualify for a Major because we haven’t in almost two years!’ Brings Cypher in and he does it in three months. Fnatic: ‘Let’s now replace Cypher before the Major and give him no reason why, because that makes sense.’ Fucking joke.
Fnatic’s updated roster will make its debut on October 14 at the CS Asia Championships 2025 — a tier-1 event held in Shanghai, China, featuring 16 teams competing for a $400,000 prize pool.
