Valve officially released Counter-Strike 2

Valve has officially released Counter-Strike 2. On September 27th, the game became freely available to everyone on the Steam platform.

The entire player database from CS:GO, including unique medals and inventory, has been fully migrated to the new version of the game, marking the end of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive era, which lasted 11 years, 1 month, and 1 week.

It's worth noting that beforehand, all servers for CS:GO and CS2 were shut down.

In the new update, developers have introduced:

  • Access to CS2 for all accounts, regardless of prime status, active rank, or number of hours played.

Let's recall that the closed beta test for CS2 began on March 22, 2023. After that, there were three waves of game key distributions. However, after September 1st, the majority of players received their long-awaited access to CS2.

Currently, EPL Season 18 is taking place, which previously was held on the CS:GO platform, but it remains unclear what will come next.

However, ESL has already started to poll teams about their interest in continuing to play the tournament on CS2. You can read more about it here.

The first major tournament for CS2 will be the Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2023, taking place from October 16th to 22nd, 2023! More information about this championship can be found here.
