After the latest update in CS2, lines of code about a new game mode and case were discovered

In the nightly update on August 15, new lines of code appeared in Counter-Strike 2, indicating the possible return of Retake mode and the introduction of a new type of case called “Volatile.”

This information was discovered in the game code and published by analysts Gabe Follower, Thour, and aqua. The update also includes new slots for clothing in the loadout, which may change character customization.

Update details

Lines of code related to Retake mode have reappeared, which may signal its return. This mode, which allows players to train bomb sites, was already in the code before, but has not been implemented. In addition, there are references to a new type of case called “Volatile,” which, according to reports, will allow players to purchase skins directly instead of opening a case.

This could revolutionize the monetization system, making the process more predictable and less dependent on RNG. New slots for clothing have also been added to the loadout: Appearance, Customhead, Eyewear, Facemask, Hands, Hat, Lowerbody, Torso, which will expand the customization options for characters, allowing players to create unique looks.

Certificates and other changes

The code now includes lines about new “Certificates SCTs,” which include loadouts for default pistol, force buy, full buy, upgraded pistol, pre-certificate poisons, bonus card, and enemy card. This may indicate new mechanics related to economy and tactics, where players will gain advantages in rounds depending on the equipment they purchase.
