G2 player Nikola “NiKo” Kovač shared on Twitter that he doesn't consider Counter-Strike 2 to be ready for professional competitions. However, the Bosnian stressed how much he enjoys playing the new game.

Recall that CS2 was released on September 27 and replaced the previous version of the game, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Today, September 29, tournament organizer ESL announced that starting from October 2, all future ESL tournaments will be held on Counter-Strike 2. Additionally, the MR12 system will be used in these events.

In his 11-year career in CS:GO, NiKo had the chance to play for teams like MOUZ, FaZe, and G2. He won top-tier tournaments several times, including IEM Cologne 2023, IEM Katowice 2023, and BLAST Premier: World Final 2022. Twice he made it to the finals of majors (ELEAGUE Major Boston 2018 and PGL Major Stockholm 2021) but never managed to clinch a victory. His earnings from prize money are close to $1,300,000.
