Developers of CS2 have brought back 8 maps and overhauled the bullet penetration system

Participants of the closed test of Counter-Strike 2 did not play for long on just the Italy map – two days after adding the legendary hostage map to the game, a new update brought back the other 8 maps.

Update Notes

Maps:

  • All maps previously presented in the closed test are now available in the regular mode and "Deathmatch".
  • All maps previously presented in the closed test are now available for offline play.
All currently available maps in CS2
All currently available maps in CS2

Gameplay:

  • Dropped bombs no longer sink in water.
  • Bullet penetration system has been revamped.
  • Bot capture is enabled where applicable.

Valve also slightly changed the lighting on Ancient, Dust 2, Vertigo, Mirage, and Overpass, decreasing or increasing brightness at various points.

Given the frequency of updates, it can be expected that the last two maps (Inferno and Train) might be added between August 21st and 24th. Along with this, the developers might also issue a larger number of invites to the closed test and, by the end of the month, make a full release, which may still be somewhat rough around the edges.
