Tonight, the annual The Game Awards 2025 ceremony took place, where the best games of the current year are determined. In addition to single-player projects, the ceremony also honored the “best esports game of the year,” and this time the award went to Counter-Strike 2.

Valve’s shooter once again proved that its contribution to the esports scene surpasses that of other games. This year, CS2 competed with other standout titles, and alongside it, the following games were nominated:

• Valorant
• Dota 2
• League of Legends
• Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

It is worth noting that this is the first The Game Awards victory for CS2. Although the game was released in 2023 and had already been nominated for this title twice, it had never managed to win. Only in 2025, by the decision of viewers and organizers, Valve’s shooter was finally recognized as the best esports game.
