Former professional player and now analyst Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen shared his opinion regarding the best lineups in Counter-Strike history especially for BLAST
Number 1 - Astralis 2018-2019:
Lineup:
In their time, they won three consecutive Majors, the first Intel Grand Slam, and revolutionized the game. Magisk, who joined the team after Kjaerbye's controversial move to North, took Astralis to a level never seen before in Counter-Strike. The team refined the idea of roles with their adaptive style, which added fluidity to their clear structure. They also utilized grenades at a fantastic level, causing every team to be forced to copy their style in hopes of catching up to their level of play.
Number 2 - FaZe 2022-2023:
Lineup:
FaZe signed ropz to their team in early 2022 and quickly became a dominant force in CS. With wins at IEM Katowice, IEM Cologne, ESL Pro League Season 15 and PGL Major Antwerp, they won four major tournaments in the first half of the year. After that, FaZe slowed down and failed to win a single event until the end of 2022, but in 2023 they won the Intel Grand Slam by beating Cloud9 in the ESL Pro League Season 17 finals. Later that year, they were a dominant force in the early months of CS2, winning three finals in a row and competing in one more before Twistzzz left for Liquid.
Number 3 - Fnatic 2015:
Lineup:
- JW
- flusha
- olofmeister
- KRIMZ
- pronax
- dennis (replaced pronax in November)
The most impressive achievement of this legendary team was winning two Majors: ESL One: Katowice 2015 and ESL One: Cologne 2015. These wins meant that fnatic became the first team to win three Majors, which up until that point seemed like an almost impossible achievement. They also won their first ESL Pro League season, defeating Cloud9 3-1 in the finals, as well as VP in the semifinals. Later, along with dennis, they added the second season of Pro League to their trophy collection, as well as the 2015 FACEIT League third round final and another win in Katowice in 2016.
Number 4 - Luminosity / SK 2016:
Lineup:
The team didn't just win two Majors in a row, they did it coming from a region that historically hasn't had much success in CS:GO and suddenly became a team that few could do anything against, with coldzera being one of the strongest players the game has ever seen. They also did it with a completely unconventional style of play that revolved around FalleN acting as an AWP IGL.
Number 5 - Team Liquid 2019:
Lineup:
Skeptics will always try to downplay the accomplishments of this team due to the lack of a Major won, but what they did was impressive even on the scale of Astralis, and we've never seen anything like it since.
The last ones to do so were - NAVI 2021:
Composition:
s1mple was on another level at this time, but what impressed us the most was their seamless integration of b1t into the lineup and how well he performed. That, and the fact that they won the first major since COVID, is something we'll remember for a long time. We should also mention the fact that they did it without losing a single card in the tournament.
