broky: “If you don’t think you’re the best, you might as well just quit”

After being benched before IEM Dallas and the BLAST.tv Austin Major, Helvijs "broky" Saukants is back on the FaZe Clan roster—and more determined than ever. While IEM Cologne didn’t go the way FaZe hoped, the team left with signs of promise. Now, during BLAST Bounty Season 2, broky and FaZe have a golden opportunity to prove that they’re truly back in form.

Bounce Back from the Bench

Speaking ahead of Bounty, broky reflected on his time off the active roster. He emphasized that it wasn’t a punishment but rather a much-needed break:

I wouldn’t say it’s a punishment… I was a bit stressed. We didn’t have the first season, so taking a break was needed even if I didn’t realize it.

When asked how he felt returning to FaZe, broky shared:

It feels good to be back… I’ve had a good break from the game and hopefully I can show better form than in Cologne.

Lessons from Cologne

Cologne wasn’t the best outcome, but it wasn’t a failure either. broky explained that limited preparation—only nine days before the event—hurt their performance:

Going into Cologne, one of the main goals was to make the playoffs, that would be a good start for me, but we didn’t do that. We lost to NAVI in the last game before the playoffs.

Despite the loss, broky is already focused ahead:

I can be much better.

Goals for the Season

Sometimes broky’s bluntness cuts straight to the heart of competition:

Everyone thinks they’re the best team—if you don’t think that, you might as well just quit.

For now, FaZe aims to focus on playing their game and tuning out the noise. Their season goal is clear:

  • Perform strongly at BLAST Bounty and secure qualification for Bounty Malta
  • Peak at the Budapest Major later this year

Embracing Online Pressure

After a break longer than typical player downtime, broky described his return experience:

I could feel it in my hands before the first game… it wasn’t pressure or stress, just excitement.

He admitted he still wants to sharpen his consistency and mental endurance moving forward.

With BLAST Bounty Season 2 underway, all eyes are on FaZe and broky. Can they harness their energy and deliver consistent results? The answer could define their CS2 comeback.
