The Brazilians Were the First to Play on Anubis: Let's See How the Map's Debut In Professional CS:GO Ended

How was the MIBR vs ATK match? The American team played Anubis in an official match for the first time as part of the tier-2 (3) tournament. So, how did the game go?

Another great match took place on the other side of the globe immediately after the grand final of BLAST Premier Fall Final 2022. ATK met MIBR at ESEA Autumn 2022 Cash Cup North America. This match is notable because the Anubis map turned out to be the veto map of this match. This is the first appearance of this location in an official match.

Unfortunately, due to the mediocre game level, it is pretty challenging to analyze the rounds, and often the teams exchanged frags. However, a couple of interesting moments were still noticed.

The 8th round was the most interesting. ATK played for the attack and showed an impressive setup of A bombsite with two Molotovs, three smoke and flash grenades. These grenades covered absolutely all positions, making it easier for ATK to take a point. The setup is incredibly strong and will clearly be used on the tier-1 scene. You can check this round here.

We already wrote about this in the article about Anubis. Point A is easier to take and difficult to retake, which ATK has proven in practice.

ATK also showed an interesting one-way smoke into the connector, which allows you to make an easy open frag and rush a point. The most exciting fact about this grenade is that it is thrown from spawn positions 2 and 4. Jonathan b0denmaster Bodenmalm threw it every time he spawned in these places. Here is this smoke.

Now let's look at the balance of bombsites on Anubis. The tendency to occupy one point in each attack round was not detected. Slightly more often, the attack side goes to B. However, the difference is not critical. It is more interesting to look at the attack win rate depending on the selected bombsite.

ATK looked much more confident than MIBR in this match, so we will look at this team first. Let's consider only Buy vs Buy rounds. In this case, the ATK win rate on A is 66%, and on B - only 40%.

We got the same situation if we look at all rounds of ATK for the attacking side. The win rate on A was 66%, and the percentage of wins on B increased to 50 thanks to victories during anti-eco rounds.

It is complicated to build some statistics on the T side from MIBR because the total win rate of the Brazilians for the attack was only 30%, and the map ended with ATK's victory with a score of 16-12. However, another exciting trend can be drawn from these data.

Anubis is likely to be another CT-strong card. In this match, this is indicated by ATK's attack and defence win rate. On the T side, the team won only 53% of the rounds, and for the CT, they took 70%. So, considering that ATK were clearly better prepared, and Anubis was their peak, the conclusion is self-evident - CT on Anubis is stronger.

Will this be confirmed on the tier-1 scene, and will Anubis become another Ancient? We will find out very soon - at the BLAST Premier World Final 2022, which will begin on December 14.
