Monte player Sergey "DemQQ" Demchenko compared his team to Brazilian squads - in previous matches in the Play-In at IEM Cologne 2023, the team defeated Imperial and FURIA. Also, in an exclusive comment for bo3.gg, the Ukrainian club's rifler talked about the adaptation of the newcomer Alexander "br0" Bro.
You had a long journey, a difficult move, did it somehow affect your performance in the Play-In?
Yes, we had a very long journey, we were on the road for over 30 hours, but we made it and arrived. It didn't affect our performance in any way. We just rested for a day because we needed to regain our strength, restore our schedule and everything.
How would you describe br0's performance in the Play-In, how exactly did his arrival to the team change the team?
I would say that he's doing a great job. He absorbs all the info we give him and teach him very quickly. He learns quickly, takes clutches, so both he and Monte have a lot ahead.
The first opponent - GamerLegion. Any thoughts on this opponent?
Everyone made replacements, especially GamerLegion had two. So we'll see, but I think the chances are there and quite high.
Both opponents in the group are Brazilians. And you practically always win over them and other teams from that region. Why do you think you have such a trend?
Playing with Brazilians is just great - we have very similar play styles. We feel it because it's like playing against yourself. Playing against Brazilians is a thrill because it's easy to play against them and you feel the timings, can read them. With other teams, it's sometimes more difficult, but all Brazilians' CS is just like ours. So we play on the same level with them, either they or us.
What words did you teach br0?
Apart from "Glory to Ukraine" we taught him mostly swear words. He goes around swearing, saying "idiot", "moron". Didn't teach him any decent words.
We remind you that Monte will continue their performance at IEM Cologne in Group A. Their next match will take place against GamerLegion on July 29 at 1:30 PM. Schedule, statistics, and match results will be available on the tournament page.
