Natus Vincere's CS2 coach Andrey B1ad3 Gorodensky summed up the year 2023 for the team. The Ukrainian mentor shared his thoughts in a vlog for the organization's YouTube channel.
Gorodensky noted that the new roster needs at least a year to start winning tournaments. He also mentioned that conclusions about the team's progress could not be made until the summer of the following year.
Currently, in our lineup, there is only one player who performed in the previous roster - this is b1t. That team needed a year and several months to start winning. Take any successful team - every lineup played together for a very, very long time. To start dominating the scene, at least a year is needed - it all depends on the set goal. If the team wants to win tournaments and lift trophies, then a year is the minimum term. Next summer we will be able to make some conclusions about our progress.
B1ad3 evaluated the team's performance at BLAST Premier: World Final 2023.
Is reaching the semi-finals a good result? Yes, I think it's a very good result. The best teams in the world perform at BLAST Premer: World Final 2023. To get here, they earn points and slots throughout the year. So, making it to the top-4 is not bad, especially considering that we lost to Team Vitality, not some other team. We know that we are not as strong as Vitality or FaZe.The only thing I didn't like was that we couldn't fight on Anubis. I think we could have played much better. But if you take this matchup against Vitality as a whole, almost nothing has changed since our last meeting. The opponents were confident, they outplayed us in shooting, in clutches, and in decision-making in general. It's all the same, only the map and the stage changed. Perhaps, performing in front of the fans also had some effect on us.
He also mentioned that with the transition to an international roster, the atmosphere in the team has changed significantly.
This year we had two lineups. We started with npl in the team, then rebuilt everything. If described in one word - it was a revolution. A revolution in NAVI or a new era, as we said. Obviously, absolutely everything changed. Changes in the lineup shocked the fans. I'm sure that along with the players, the atmosphere in NAVI changed as well. Now everyone supports each other. A lot has changed, the situation in the team became completely different. I don't know what word can describe it, let it be joy.
