After a disappointing first day, which saw many technical glitches and delays, those involved in the $300,000 tournament have confirmed that the Skyesports Championship 2024 Semi-LAN tournament has gradually corrected its initial errors, leading to a smooth second day.
Players from the invited teams, Aurora and BetBoom, were extremely critical of the entire event. They were not shy in their expressions, with numerous posts on various social media platforms showing the conditions created to accommodate players and practice sessions in the early stages.
The situation escalated when Aurora players made a video depicting a pig in one of the less developed areas of Mumbai, India, which was published first on their personal Telegram channels and then on Twitter by CIS CS2 NEWS, a CIS-focused news channel. The video caused a lot of backlash from the Indian community, who claimed that it was a deliberate attempt to show the country in a bad light.
However, in the latest development, CIS CS2 NEWS published a post on Twitter claiming that Aurora player, r3salt was receiving a lot of calls from Indian fans in response to his comments about the tournament.
Soon after, SouL team content writer, Sid questioned the veracity of the information by publishing True Caller verification screenshots which showed that r3salt's screenshots were filled with calls from Zomato, a popular food delivery service in India.
In response to Sid's post, Skyesports CEO assured the community that the organization will look into the allegations and take “necessary action”. Meanwhile, CIS CS2 NEWS deleted its previous post and published a clarification and apology for being “duped” by r3salt.
вWe will look into this and take the necessary steps. Thank you to the entire Indian Gaming Community for the support. https://t.co/c5AeTEPFGg
