Tournament operator eXTREMESLAND has announced the holding of a LAN tournament for eight teams. This will be the second LAN event in Counter-Strike 2, taking place in the Chinese city of Shanghai.
eXTREMESLAND 2024 will take place in January next year. Eight invited teams from across the Asia-Pacific region will participate in the tournament. The organizers also noted that the tournament will serve as a warm-up before the CS2 eXTREMESLAND Open 2024.
The last tournament by eXTREMESLAND took place in December 2022. At the online event eXTREMESLAND Festival 2022, with a prize pool of $21,471, Rare Atom emerged victorious. Previously, the organizer held annual local LAN tournaments with a prize pool of $100,000. The last of these, eXTREMESLAND 2019, was won by team TYLOO.
Currently, another LAN tournament, CS Asia Championships 2023, is taking place in Shanghai. Events of this series were also not held since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the playoffs of the CS Asia Championships 2023, which has a prize pool of $500,000, teams like ENCE, NIP, MOUZ, Lynn Vision, Astralis, and FaZe have advanced.
