G2 arrived at the tournament with a substitute, Stewie2K replacing HooXi, who missed the tournament to attend his sister's wedding. Few believed in team G2 due to the substitution, as making it to the playoffs is already challenging, but they exceeded all expectations and advanced to the playoffs, where they defeated FaZe and 9z, securing a spot in the grand final with a prize pool of $250,000, where a victory would bring them $100,000 and a slot at IEM Cologne 2024.
Vitality arrived at the tournament as potential winners, but faced immediate challenges in their first game against Monte, trailing 9-3 in defense on Nuke. However, after switching sides, they made a comeback and won the game, advancing further, where after beating G2 2-0, they secured a spot in the playoffs. However, in the seeding match, they sensationally lost to 9z 2-0, thus reaching the quarterfinals of the tournament. On their path to the final, they defeated Heroic and Spirit in the playoffs.
The crowd today is rooting for G2 because the only American player who made it to the tournament's playoffs, Stewie2K, is playing for G2. He previously stated that it would be nice for him to win the tournament in front of his home crowd.
