The 9z team, one of the leading South American teams in Counter-Strike 2, demonstrated impressive play at the Intel Extreme Masters Chengdu 2024: South American Qualifier. The tournament, which is held from January 17 to 18, will determine the team that will represent South America at IEM Chengdu 2024.
On the first day of the competition, 9z impressed with victories over RED Canids and MIBR, advancing to the qualification final. Following these successes, RED Canids were eliminated, conceding to Sharks, who will now play against MIBR in the lower bracket final. 9z, meanwhile, are focusing on the main match, hoping to secure their spot at IEM Chengdu 2024.
This tournament, which will take place in China from April 8 to 14, includes a prize pool of $250,000, with a main prize of $100,000 and a slot at IEM Cologne 2024. A successful performance at IEM Chengdu 2024 could be a significant achievement for 9z and a demonstration of their ambitions on the global CS2 stage following their recent roster change.
