Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive came out with a new adaptable combat system. The new system now includes four different classes which heavily influences the variety of attacks and moves Sung Jinwoo can perform. Each different class has new weapon abilities, scaling, and Jinwoo has complete control over how the fighter chooses to play.
How Class Skill Trees Work
After completing the opening mission, you’ll be able to choose one of four Skill Trees:
- Assassin
- Duelist
- Elementalist
- Ruler
Each class gives you a unique combat style and starting equipment. The good news is that you’re never locked in. You can reset your skill points (for a gold fee) and switch to any other class at any time.

All Classes in Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive

Assassin
Playstyle: Fast, precise, and heavily reliant on dodging and punishing. Best For: Players who enjoy high-speed gameplay, perfect evasions, and critical hit bursts.
Starting Abilities:
- Cutting Rush
- Internal Wound
Starting Weapons:
- Kasaka’s Venom Fang
- Kim Sangshik’s Sword
The Assassin is the ultimate glass cannon, fragile but incredibly deadly. It rewards timing, awareness, and clean execution. If you can consistently evade and counterattack, this class gives you some of the highest burst damage in the game.

Duelist
Playstyle: Straightforward melee combat with strong offense and reliable defense. Best For: Beginners or players who want powerful, simple melee action.
Starting Abilities:
- Rush
- Armor Break
Starting Weapons:
- Razan’s Blade
- Rock Golem Hammer
Duelist is the most beginner-friendly class, with high damage, a sturdy kit, and simple combos. Great for boss fights and anyone who prefers up-close brawling without complex mechanics.

Elementalist
Playstyle: Long-range magic attacks and elemental status effects. Best For: Players who like controlling battles from a distance.
Starting Abilities:
- Cold Storm
- Firestorm Dagger
Starting Weapons:
- Sandstorm Cube
- Ice Elf’s Bow
Elementalist excels at ranged damage and battlefield control. Though fragile up close, it has some of the most visually impressive attacks and synergizes well with Intelligence-focused builds.

Ruler
Playstyle: Summoning, battlefield control, and AoE skills. Best For: Players who want a strategic playstyle or a lore-accurate Jinwoo experience.
Starting Abilities:
- Commander’s Touch
- Dispersion
Starting Weapons:
- Lizard Glaive
- Arachnid Hand Crossbow
Ruler mirrors Jinwoo’s iconic fighting style from the series, centered around commanding minions and manipulating the battlefield. It’s balanced, tactical, and thematically satisfying.

How to Change Class
After reaching the Hunter’s Association hub, open the main menu and select the Sung Jinwoo tab. Here you can:
- Reset your Skill Tree
- Allocate attributes
- Swap into any class
- Equip weapons from any class
Which Class Should You Choose
When beginning Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive, you may want to consider which class to begin with, although this depends primarily on your choice. If you like speedy, high-efficiency combat style, you should go for the Assassin class. However, if you are a beginner to the game and want to engage in a large number of kills, the most beginner-friendly class, the Duelist, is for you. You can also consider the Elementalist as combat magic is your thing. The more wait-and-see combat class with abilities like Jinwoo from the old story and strong summon is the Ruler of your choice. Overall, Duelist is the safest starting point for most players, but Ruler offers the most advanced Jinwoo fantasy.

Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive has classes, and each one has a different portrayal of combat for players to experiment with and find a combat style for them. However, the combat style that you choose initially will serve as a guide to your starting gameplay. The rest of your gameplay though has no restrictions to a single combat style, as you can reset your ability points at any time, as well as change combat style classes. The gameplay combat style you prefer will dictate your journey, as each Skill Tree will let you experience Jinwoo's journey differently. Players can experiment with different builds in combat to become the Hunter that they want to.
