The MPL Indonesia Season 16 kicks off on August 22 — the main event of the Indonesian MLBB scene, which will determine not only the strongest team in the country but also the two representatives from the region for the M7 World Championship. Following ONIC's confident triumph in the 15th season and reaching the top 4 at the Mid Season Cup 2025, Indonesia is once again in the spotlight.
Tournament Format
The group stage of MPL Indonesia Season 16 will begin on August 22. Ten teams will compete in a double round-robin format. All matches will be played in a bo3 format: a win earns 1 point, a loss — 0. At the end of the regular season, the top six teams advance to the playoffs.
The playoffs will use a hybrid system: teams ranked 3rd to 6th will start from the first round of the single elimination bracket, while the top two teams will receive a bye to the second round, where the Double Elimination will begin. All matches will be played in a bo5 format, with the Lower Bracket Final and Grand Final in bo7. The top two teams will earn a spot in the M7 World Championship.
First Week Matches
Main Favorite — ONIC
ONIC remains the undisputed leader of the Indonesian scene. The champions of MPL ID Season 15 confidently proved their strength on the international stage, only stopping in the semifinals of the MSC 2025 and earning $150,000. Kairi continues to be the driving force of the team, and the roster's stability makes ONIC the main contender for the title this season.
Title Contenders — RRQ Hoshi and Geek Fam ID
Geek Fam ID secured the bronze at MPL ID Season 15, demonstrating progress and ambition. Young talents like Maykids have already shown they are ready to compete at the highest level. This season, Geek Fam is capable of climbing even higher. Expect a change in the team's game strategy, as the club changed both coaches during the transfer window.
Dark Horses — Team Liquid ID and Bigetron Alpha
Team Liquid ID finished the previous season in 5th-6th place, but the potential of this organization should not be underestimated. They have both the experience and resources to disrupt the script and challenge the favorites. After the end of the 15th season, TL signed a new jungler and gold laner. It is currently unknown whether this is an enhancement to the main roster or rotational players.
