Best counter to Irelia in top

Darius is one of the elite champions to use to counter Irelia top, he can scrap with her at any stage providing she doesn’t have her passive fully stacked. If she does, Darius simply has to wait it out before going back in. Darius’s passive allows him to consistently fight with Irelia, and doing so will be at her demise because once Darius’s passive is fully stacked, she will start to bleed out and likely die. 

Irelia normally has a strong early game because of her passive, but Darius completely counters this as he has the advantage from level two. Irelia ideally needs level three before she is at her scariest in the early portions of the game. Whereas Darius only needs his E and W along with Ghost to become an instant threat in the top lane. 

How one ability stops Irelia in mid 

For the mid lane, it has to be Yasuo as the Irelia mid counter. Like Darius, Yasuo is also very strong at going toe-to-toe with Irelia in combat, but the most important factor is he can block Irelia’s E with his windwall, which is a large part of her ability to 1v1 a champion in the lane. If you get locked up by Irelia’s stun, you’re as good as dead or at the very least going to take a lot of damage. This is where one of Irelia’s weaknesses really starts to shine, she isn’t very good if enemy champions have hard CC, or at the very least have an easy way of dodging her abilities. Yasuo is great because he never really has to get up close to Irelia. Whenever she goes in for the kill, he will use his W to block the stun, leaving her vulnerable. On top of that, Yasuo scales very well into the mid-to-late game even without any kills. He just needs time and farm to get to a couple of core items and then he’s good to go.

If you want to counter Irelia, you will have to understand for a while that she will likely destroy you in lane. The key to using Darius and Yasuo is to play around her timings. Once her E is down, or her passive isn’t stacked, this is when you have to trade with her, because you’re not going to get many windows if her stun is up but you have no way to counter it.
