In Path of Exile 2, Spirit is a pretty important resource that's used to enable auras, use meta gems, and summon minions. Unlike mana, which is mainly spent on casting spells, Spirit is used only for these functions, which makes its management very important in character optimization.
Understanding Spirit
Spirit serves as a reserved resource pool to activate auras, and meta gems, and sustain summoned minions. Using said abilities depletes a portion of your Spirit and if you are too low on reserves then you cannot pop those buffs/extra minions in the first place. Raising your maximum Spirit is a must-have in aura-intensive or minion swarm build setups.
Methods to Increase Spirit
1. Equip Spirit-Increasing Gear
Some items in Path of Exile 2 give direct increases to your Spirit pool:
- Scepters: Implicitly, a scepter in an off-slot will provide you with a base +100 Spirit. They can also roll affixes that increase Spirit, making them a solid choice for increasing your reserves.
- Body Armor: Some body armors can roll with "+Spirit" affixes, which give more Spirit. These are rare but always a welcome sight when they do happen.
- Amulets: Solar Amulet will add around 10-15 Spirit. In the case of rare amulets, way more spirit may appear on them; of course, items with a rarity like this are rather uncommon and most of the time, only trading may grant them.
2. Defeating Optional Bosses
Throughout the campaign, some optional bosses drop consumable items that permanently raise your Spirit:
- Act 1 - King in the Mists: You can kill this boss for the Gembloom Skull during the "Ominous Altars" quest, which you consume for a permanent +30 Spirit bonus.
- Subsequent Acts: Each act contains specific bosses that drop similar consumables, each providing a +30 Spirit boost upon use. Exploring optional areas and defeating these bosses can significantly enhance your Spirit pool.
3. Ascendancy Choices
Picking certain Ascendancy classes can also affect your Spirit reserves:
- Infernalist: Beidat's Will is the notable passive of the Infernalist, whereby a portion of your maximum Life comes into play in increasing your maximum Spirit. That is quite a trade-off because, in return, you are reserving a portion of your Life to substantially increase your Spirit - a good Return on Investment for Spirit-intensive builds.
These, in turn, will reward you with better Spirit reserves for Path of Exile 2, enabling stronger and more varied character builds. Note that game updates may add even more ways to improve your Spirit and overall experience.
