Worlds 2024 Tournament Structure
Play-In Stage: September 25 - 29, 2024

- Objective: The top 4 teams advance to the Swiss Stage, while the rest are eliminated from the tournament.
Swiss Stage: October 3 - 7, October 10 - 13, 2024
The Swiss Stage brings together the top 4 teams from Play-Ins and 12 teams directly invited from powerhouse regions such as China, Korea, Europe, and North America. This stage follows a Swiss System format, with teams needing to secure 3 wins to advance to the Knockout Stage. Teams with 3 losses are eliminated.
Format:
- 16 teams compete in a Swiss System Format.
- Rounds 1-5: Teams face off based on their win-loss records.
- Bo1 Matches: All matches except elimination and advancement games.
- Bo3 Matches: Elimination and advancement games.
- Teams play only one match against each opponent during this stage.
Side Selection: In the first round, teams from different regions are paired, and side selection is determined by draw pool. For subsequent rounds, it’s based on win-loss records.
Knockout Stage: October 17 - 20, October 26 - 27, November 2, 2024
The Knockout Stage is where the final 8 teams will compete in a Single Elimination bracket, battling in Best of 5 (Bo5) series. This stage will determine which team claims the coveted Summoner’s Cup.
- Side Selection Privilege: Teams with a better record from the Swiss Stage will choose the side for Game 1, and the losing team in each game gets to choose sides for the following game. In quarterfinals, side selection is determined by Swiss Stage performance; in later rounds, a coin flip will decide.
- All Matches: Bo5, with the world’s best teams facing off for ultimate glory.
