"Doom Bots" Return with New Bosses and Challenges in League of Legends

Riot Games has announced the return of the "Doom Bots" mode in update 25.17 for League of Legends. Players can look forward to a revamped PvE mode with enhanced opponents, new curses, Veigar as a boss, and a "Nightmare Challenges" system. The expected launch is in the coming weeks.

What Will Change in the Mode

In the updated version of the "Doom Bots" mode, five players will battle against an army of enhanced bots commanded by Veigar. The main objective is to survive 15 minutes and defeat the boss while defending their nexus. Enemies have become stronger and gained unique abilities: for instance, Wukong can now create more clones and deal area damage, while Nami splits her bubble into three parts and uses enhanced area skills.

New Final Boss

In update 25.17, Veigar will take on the role of the final boss. He will acquire some of Mordekaiser's abilities, and in the last phase of the game, bots will continue to attack players' structures. Veigar will be able to send opponents to the "Realm of Death," where they will fight against enhanced enemies.

Nightmare Challenges

The mode will feature "Nightmare Challenges" — special modifiers that increase the game's difficulty. The first challenge gives all bots Veigar's passive ability, allowing them to accumulate adaptive power with each skill hit. Players will have their item cooldowns accelerated and will gain access to a special prismatic item. There will be three types of challenges in total, and players will earn a unique title for completing them.

Curses and Quests

Developers have expanded the list of curses, which can now be used to the players' advantage by imposing negative effects on enemies. "Quests" have been introduced — mini-challenges from Veigar, for completing which players can earn a dragon soul and gold. If players fail to complete a quest, it will strengthen the bots or grant them additional bonuses.

The return of the "Doom Bots" will happen with update 25.17 in the coming weeks. Riot promises that the mode will be available with various challenges until the final update, and player feedback will help improve it.
