Last night, a major CS2 update was released, marking the start of the third season of Premier. However, the gameplay and map pool changes garnered the most attention. Anubis was removed from the active map pool, and Overpass was brought back. Additionally, the MP9 was nerfed, the spread of incendiary grenades for CTs was improved, and the defense economy was slightly adjusted.
As usual, such significant changes sparked a strong reaction among players, analysts, and esports community members. Below are some of the most notable opinions.
YNk, a well-known CS2 analyst, positively assessed the changes but pointed out the main unresolved issue:
The best map pool we’ve had since Vertigo replaced Cache in 2019. Liking the MP9 nerf and the incendiary buff but the CT economy buff, whilst welcome, fails to address the biggest issue imo, which is the hard reset to $1,400. Excited to see how it all plays out!YNk
Mauisnake called the update one of the best for esports:
Incendiary spread is faster, great.
Overpass keeps the game tactical, great.
CT economy buff, great.
MP9 is not just an OP run-and-jump weapon, good.
This is a Grade: A update for the esport.Mauisnake
Pimp, a CS2 analyst, reacted to the update like this:
Overpass back!!!!
Anubis out 🥲
Still personally would’ve preferred Inferno to be gone, but I’ll take it.
You gonna miss Anubis? 😛Pimp
Brollan from MOUZ expressed his excitement briefly and clearly:
My lovely overpass is back! 🥰Brollan
m0NESY, the Falcons sniper, supported the MP9 nerf with his characteristic sarcasm:
Exactly right, fix the MP9 🤓m0NESY
r1nkle, the NIP sniper, showed his satisfaction briefly but clearly:
finally, they figured out to remove Anubis WWr1nkle
HooXi, the captain of Astralis, reacted emotionally to the patch:
This is the best update in the history of the game as far as I remember! Let's go Counter-Strike ❤️HooXi
MAJ3R from Aurora nostalgically and ironically recalled his favorite maps:
Man valve really hurt me bro 😅 In Spacesoldiers I enjoyed so much cbblestone and cache and both removed, in EF/aurora i really enjoyed vertigo / anubis both removed xd spend so many hours on thèses maps 😂😆MAJ3R
lmbt, the coach of MOUZ NXT, spoke harshly:
Finally got rid of that Anubis crap, but unfortunately replaced it with the same crap)lmbt
messioso, the manager of Complexity, sarcastically commented on the map rotation:
-Anubis
+Overpass
Who asked for this 😭😭messioso
STYKO, a substitute player for Inner Circle and content creator:
Crazy update, I like it. Expected more, but it'll do.
(item trades don't interest me, so I ignore that part 🤥)STYKO
James Banks, a host of major tournaments, positively noted almost all the changes, mentioning that the day started off right:

Travis, a commentator, expressed enthusiasm for the update and supported each of the innovations:
I…LOVE every single change? Everything here was needed. It’s a shame Anubis is gone, but it was certainly unpopular among most pros.
Can’t wait to see how the economy change plays out.Travis
Valve has once again shaken up the CS2 meta — maps, weapons, economy. Some decisions were met with excitement, others sparked debate, but no one remained indifferent. Now we wait to see how these changes will affect the professional scene and everyday matches.
