Riot has introduced major changes to the LCK format going into the 2025 season. The new changes will be in line with the three international event format that Riot is introducing next year. The LCK will now be split into three sections with only one team being crowned the LCK 2025 champion at the end of the season.
Its the dawn of a new era for the LCK as major changes are announced. Starting with the beginning of the season, a brand new tournament labled the 'LCK Cup' will kick off proceedings in Korea, with the winner qualifying for the brand-new international event that will be debuting in March. The LCK Cup will help the region prepare for the first event by introducing fearless draft across the entirety of the tournament.
The LCK will no longer have a spring and summer split. Instead, the rest of the year will be split into two rounds of a large regular season. The first half will determine the qualifiers for the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational, while the remainder of the split will focus on seeding teams for the 2025 World Championship. While there have been concerns in the past about a prolonged season, Riot has ensured this won't be the case by introducing MSI qualifiers to ensure the competition hype remains the same.
