Noxian Season in League of Legends: What's Coming in 2025

With the arrival of 2025, League of Legends enters a new seasonal format. The first changes are already available on the PBE, and the main update dedicated to the Noxian invasion will be released in early January. What have the developers prepared for the players?

Visual Update of Summoner’s Rift

The first thing players will notice is the complete immersion in the atmosphere of Noxus. Towers, minions, merchants, and even the landscape of the Rift have been redesigned with Noxian aesthetics. The map will retain its functionality and clarity to avoid distracting players from battles. These changes will be relevant during the first season, after which a new theme will be added to the game.

New Monster: Atakhan

An ancient demon of blood and brutality will become the central object on the map. Atakhan appears at the 20th minute of the game on the river—closer to the top or bottom part of the map, depending on where more kills and champion damage occurred in the first 14 minutes of the match. At the 14-minute mark, Atakhan’s arena will appear with two permanent walls, allowing you to prepare in advance and strategize on fighting this ancient demon.

Atakhan also provides:

  • Devastating Atakhan enhances effects from epic monsters.
  • Insatiable Atakhan grants a revival effect and increases rewards for kills.

Additionally, the new mechanic with blood roses will add strategic depth to battles.

Triumph of Power

A new reward system in the early stages will replace the familiar bonuses for first blood, first tower, and first epic monster kill. By completing two of the three tasks, the team will receive enhanced boots with unique effects and can later upgrade them to rank 3.

Nexus Tower Revival

Now, Nexus towers will regenerate after some time following destruction. This innovation will make matches more intense and balanced, giving the losing team a chance to come back.

Rune Update

Four new runes are added to the game:

  • Axiom Master - enhances ultimate abilities, particularly their damage, healing effectiveness, and shield strength. This rune also reduces cooldown time for participating in kills. Axiom Master replaces the Siphon Destruction. We expect it to be a caster’s best friend—no worse than Mana Flow—and help achieve very specific and clear objectives. The rune will bring great benefits to those who use it wisely and will open up interesting possibilities in tool selection.
  • Deep Warding Totem - turns Hidden Warding Totems in the enemy jungle into deep totems, increasing their health reserve by 1 and duration by 30-45 sec. (by 30-120 sec. for Hidden Totems from the yellow trinket). Starting from level 11, Hidden Totems on the river also become deep and receive corresponding enhancements.
  • Sixth Sense - allows you to automatically sense an enemy totem nearby that hasn’t been marked or revealed. The rune’s cooldown time will be 300 sec. for melee champions, and 360 sec. for ranged champions. From level 11, this rune allows not only to sense the totem but also reveals it for 10 sec., giving you the opportunity to eliminate it.
  • Terrible Trophies - grant 5 acceleration points for trinkets (stacks without limits) for participating in champion kills. In game modes where such an effect is useless (e.g., in ARAM), you receive 3 acceleration points for ultimate abilities instead.

These changes promise to diversify tactical options and strategic approaches for players.

Teleport Update

Teleport became too powerful a tool without apparent downsides, reducing the dynamic on lanes. To restore the importance of what happens on the lanes, its mechanics have been changed: now the champion will "fly" to the base, rather than move instantly.

The regular Teleport became slower, and the Enhanced one became faster while maintaining the range and cast time. This will make the spell less effective early in the game, preserving its usefulness in later stages. The change aims to improve balance and prepare for further adjustments.

What’s Next?

Developers warn that changes on the PBE may change until the update is released. In the meantime, players can test new mechanics and leave their feedback. The first season of 2025 promises to be bright, eventful, and full of new opportunities for victory.
