LoL fans still hate playing against Mel despite nerfs

Another day and another opportunity for League of Legends fans to be mad at the latest champion. Mel has been available since the latest patch, but fans are already fed up with playing against her. She is constantly being banned in the pick and ban phase with a high ban rate across the globe in solo queue, she's also been hit with considerable nerfs to make her more of a balanced champion. But this hasn't seemed to have a positive effect on the laning experience for many League of Legends players.

Mel is definitely an incredibly challenging champion to go up against in League of Legends. Firstly, her W, which repels any incoming projectile and returns them to the enemy that fired it, makes it very hard for ranged champions such as Jayce, Syndra, Lux, etc to have the best of times laning against her. Even after considerable nerfs, including her own hotfix patch has not slowed down the success of Mel in solo queue. At the time of writing, Mel has had a 58% ban rate across all ranks, and fans think it's going to continue for a while.

In the past 24 hours, LoL players have taken to Reddit to express their annoyance with the champion still being extremely difficult to play against. The original poster believes that Mel will still have a high ban rate for an extended period of time because "she is simply just not that fun to play against." This is a sentiment that is shared across the LoL community at the moment, so much so that the next highest banned champion is Caitlyn, and while her ban rate is considered high by generic standards (26.8%), it's nowhere close to competing with Mel.

As mentioned above, Mel has received some major nerfs to her kit, her flat AP damage percentage has gone from a staggering 25% all the way down to 10%. For the rest of her kit, her damage in both Q and her Ultimate has also taken significant hits. One player did comment on this in the Reddit thread, "Mel does pretty sh*t damage with max range Qs, and the comet never lands because the Q doesn't slow. Only way she does good damage is if you step into her root and tank all Q projectile." And while this sounds simple enough, having to play short-range champions against Mel is also not a fun experience.
