It's certainly not been a great time at Riot Games as of late, with players still up in arms about the decisions the company has been making, specifically around Hextech chests and the predatory gacha skins, with more on the way. And now, LoL fans have started to realise another problem the developers are putting upon the player base.
League of Legends fans took to Reddit this morning to talk about the current state of skins within the game. Many are starting to point out that the skins feel repetative and are starting to overlap. The original poster of the Reddit thread pointed out that Jarvan IV has gotten three Chinese New Year skins, those being Warren Kingdoms, Lunar Beast, and most recently Mythmaker.

The poster also mentioned that Lucian has received multiple futuristic skins, which is unnecessary. While behind-the-scenes data could indicate this genre of skins performs well for these specific champions, players are getting sick and tired of having the same futuristic skin repackaged and sold at a premium when, in reality, they don't really need another version of the same skin.
"Riot wants to pump big numbers for skins while maintaining but not exceeding quality... if anything exceeds quality or a cool feature that could be implemented is discovered it is instantly thrown into the gacha thing," said one player. And this comment honestly does hit the nail on the head. Personally, none of the skins Riot has released are of bad quality, but anything major implemented to the skins has instantly been made to cost a lot more than a standard League of Legends skin.
"
It's one of the reasons I stopped buying skins, honestly. Everything feels like more of the same," one player added. Take Masque of the Black Rose Elise for example. Although it's a free skin, and quality shouldn't be as high, it's essentially a reskinned version of her base skin, with minimal changes. It's a problem that Riot will eventually have to deal with down the road, as players won't put up with this forever.
