Each Act now grants 10 Hextech Chests & Keys (8 free, 2 from Honor), with 25 Mythic Essence replacing the paid Battle Pass skin.https://t.co/6a59IuJaxg
Starting with patch 25.05, set to launch next week, players will once again be able to earn up to 10 Hextech Chests and Keys per Act. However, there are some key differences from the original system:
- 8 Chests & Keys will be available through the free battle pass, replacing the previously offered seasonal skin.
- 2 Additional Chests will now be tied to the Honor system, rewarding players for positive behavior.

This move comes after intense backlash over the removal of Hextech Chests, which left many feeling like Riot had strayed too far from its "players first" philosophy. In a statement, Riot acknowledged that they “didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered” to the community.
For weeks, fans had been flooding social media with demands to #BringBackChests, creating memes, videos, and heated discussions about Riot’s controversial loot system changes. Now, with this rollback, Riot seems to be trying to rebuild trust, though some players may still be wary of the changes.
