On January 17, another game day of the LCK Cup 2025 took place. Two matches were played — Gen.G Esports versus Hanwha Life Esports and Nongshim RedForce versus OKSavingsBank BRION. In this material, we summarized these matchups.
Gen.G vs. Hanwha Life
The match between Gen.G and Hanwha Life ended with a victory for Gen.G with a 2:0 score. The first map was very slow and lacking in fights. In total, there were 12 kills in the game. Interestingly, a new build on Ashe by Ruler was notable. The essence lies in the quick recharge of the hawk to gather information. Overall, the game was played entirely by Gen.G's rules.
The second map was very action-packed. Ruler shone on his Jinx, finishing the map with a score of 13/2/4. It's worth noting the complete failure of Hanwha's newcomer, Zeus, who finished the second map on Ornn with a score of 0/7/5. Fans did not expect such a debut from a two-time Worlds champion.
Nongshim RedForce vs. OKSavingsBank BRION
The second map was less saturated with fights and was almost entirely under NRF's control. Particularly notable in this match were Jiwoo on Ashe and Kingen on Gangplank. This match turned out poorly for BRION's jungler, who failed both maps.
Team standings in groups
Matches in this tournament are held between teams from opposite groups: "Baron" and "Elder". However, the earned points are counted within their own group. This way, the tournament organizers aim to break the routine of professional tournaments.
The LCK Cup 2025 will take place in a group stage and playoffs format with 10 teams divided into two groups. Each group consists of 5 teams, and seeding was based on results from tournaments of 2024. A place in the First Stand 2025 is up for grabs. All information about the tournament can be found via the link.
