DSG Exyu: "We definitely have a good chance to sneak out [of bottom 4] and into the top 4"

Lawrence Lin "eXyu" Xu comes into this LTA 2025 season with a lot of hope for his Disguised squad. The NA jungler is looking to help his squad improve and form into a team that is competitive with the rest of the league, while also ensuring DSG wins their promotion/relegation tournament at the end of the season. eXyu sat down with bo3.gg to discuss the mood in the camp, a little on the LTA Split 1 format, and more.

Thank you for taking the time to talk to me today, how has DSG been dealing with the time you've had off since being eliminated from LTA Split 1?

eXyu: We took about a week off after we got eliminated and we went straight back to scrimming. I was pretty disappointed with how we lost but we’re a new team so it’s important for all of us to keep a good mindset going into the next split.

Obviously your answer may be a little swayed by the standings, but can you give me your honest thoughts on the format you played in split 1? many aren't happy about it

eXyu: I thought the format wasn’t great, especially for new teams like us. I’m obviously a bit biased but I would say it’s even worse for someone like Saint who arrived late and got knocked out right away. I think they’re also doing a Korean boot camp so it’s just funny that he came for like 2 weeks played 5 games and is going back to Korea now [laughs].

What has the mood around the camp been since being eliminated, was there any plans by the org to immediately set up to practise during the off time or will you ramp up now during the Korean bootcamp?

eXyu: The mood was honestly not too bad. Everyone is aware that we’re not playing at the level we hope to but we’re all pretty optimistic about the potential of this roster. Immediately after we lost we discussed doing a Korea bootcamp and now we’re here grinding until March 20th.

Do you think it's concerning that fewer games are being played to accommodate the new three-split format? I've been seeing some stats that some teams in EU have only played like 30 games in a year

eXyu: Yeah I’m a big advocate for more stage games or just more competitive matches in general. If stage time is a problem I genuinely think they should just make some matches remote during the week so players get to play more matches. It’s not easy to get adjusted to official matches with so few games since they’re really different than scrims so it’s just frustrating that we don’t get more opportunities to play real matches.

How do you like the jungle meta this year, anything you like versus really don't like?

eXyu: I think the jungle meta is ok right now. I don’t like how lane swaps affect jungle tho. As for the champs I think it’s cool that there’s a wide variety of styles that are viable. You can play tanks, ap carries, or bruisers and they’re all solid.

Finally, is there anything you would like to say to fans, or any teams to call out?

eXyu: Shoutout to everyone who supported us in our short stint of a split. Hopefully, we’ll have more to show in Split 2 so that you guys can watch us more. To the other teams, I honestly think none of them are unbeatable. I think of the bottom 4 teams we definitely have a good chance to sneak out and into the top 4.
