Gen.G mid laner Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon was awarded the title of Best Esports Athlete at The Game Awards 2025 ceremony, which kicked off on December 12 in Los Angeles, highlighting key achievements in the gaming and esports industry. The award annually honors the best players, teams, and developers who have become icons of the past year.

Alongside Chovy, the nominees included Brawk (Valorant), f0rsakeN (Valorant), Kakeru (Street Fighter 6), MenaRD (Street Fighter 6), and ZywOo (Counter-Strike 2), but it was the Gen.G player who received the highest recognition in 2025.

Gen.G Historic Season

Gen.G season began with a 2nd place finish at the LCK Cup 2025, followed by securing 1st place in the LCK Road to MSI 2025 qualifiers, and then winning the Mid-Season Invitational 2025, where Chovy was named the tournament MVP. In the summer, Gen.G claimed the title at the Esports World Cup 2025, adding another international trophy to their collection.

In the fall, the team became the champion of the LCK 2025 Season, finishing the regular season with an outstanding 29–1 record and setting a record with a 27-match winning streak. At the Worlds 2025, Gen.G reached the semifinals, where they lost to KT Rolster with a score of 1:3, securing a 3rd–4th place finish.

Chovy victory at The Game Awards 2025 was a fitting conclusion to the most successful season of his career. Team titles, international dominance, individual accolades, and consistent performance throughout the year cemented his status as one of the greatest League of Legends players on the global stage.
