The 2025 LTA North Split 2 is upon us, and with First Stand firmly in the rearview mirrors, North American teams are preparing to do battle for a chance to represent the region at the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational. Team Liquid is licking its wounds after a disappointing showing at the first international event of the year. Nevertheless, they are still the reigning LTA champions after dismantling the competition in the playoffs.
So who can stop TL from adding another trophy to their collection? Let's take a look at the teams we think can take down Team Liquid in the LTA 2025 North Split 2.
100 Thieves

Whether rival players are going to admit it or not, 100 Thieves are starting to become the real deal. Many have likened 100 Thieves to a one-trick pony in the sense that all they have is their ability to aggressively teamfight at every stage of the game.
Well that is starting to prove good enough to take down top teams. During the regular season, they were able to take down Team Liquid, Cloud9, and were able to dismantle FlyQuest in what should have been a 2-0 series. And while they got destroyed in the final, its another building block for 100T as they look to finally claim a second championship, four years on from their first.
Cloud9

Cloud9 were likely wishing that the format for Split 1 was different than the one they got, as they looked primed to win another title, the first in the LTA era. C9 looked much improved from their 2024 roster, with Loki meshing with Blaber a lot better than what the multi-time MVP was able to do with jojopyun. The re-addition of the Zven and Vulcan duo has worked wonders for the team, with the latter looking much improved and almost back to his best.
C9 had every opportunity to win that series against Team Liquid, having been in control of game one and self-admitting they put themselves in an unwinnable draft in game three, which resulted in a Team Liquid win. It would have been interesting to see C9 in a double elimination bracket, but they will get the chance to prove they are the best team this upcoming split.

FlyQuest

FlyQuest has some work to do if they are to regain its title as the best team in the region. In a recent interview with NAMen, Bwipo stated that he believes FlyQuest right now is the fourth best team with C9, TL, and 100T all ahead of them. The pressure doesn't slow down just because they are no longer considered the best; however, the pack, those being C9 and 100T, has caught up to TL and FLY, meaning a bad split will now equate to them not qualifying for MSI.
In his interview, Bwipo stated that the team is clearly going through some internal issues and that until they fix those fundamentals, they're not going to be able to challenge the other teams in the top four. That statement does track. They lost to Cloud9 and 100 Thieves and just about beat Team Liquid in the seeding best-of-one, which ultimately Team Liquid threw.
Fans will get to see the top four go up against one another as the LTA returns this weekend. You can see FlyQuest go up against Team Liquid, and Cloud9 take on 100 Thieves.
