Tristana is one of the best late-game ADC's going around in League of Legends at the moment. She scales incredibly well, can hold her own even in a one versus two, and can shread through towers like they are butter. But what if this late-game carry is on the opposing team? You're going to want to have a Tristana counter bot lane. Stay tuned as we go through the best counter for Tristana in League of Legends along with an optimal mid counter in the event she is flexed to the solo lane.
AP and utility supports is the way to go

So who can counter Tristana? If you really want to get Tristana weak in lane, then you're going to want to pick an AP support. Although she is considered a utility support, Lulu can still do a lot of damage to Tristana in lane, she has enough poke to the point where it will be annoying for the enemy Tristana player. Poke and utility champions are the optimal Tristana support counter.
How to counter Tristana in lane
If you're asking yourself how to beat Tristana? If so Lulu then you're in the right place. Whenever Tristana looks to jump in with her W, there are a couple of ways you can negate the incoming attacks from Tristana. Firstly, you can Polymorph Tristana, making her small and unable to do any follow-up damage after using her W. Secondly, you can use Lulu ultimate to stop the Tristana jump mid-flight.
If you want another great counter to Tristana in lane, then we would go with Karma. At the start of the game, Tristana's range is not what it will be come the end of the game, so early on you really want to try and take advantage of her vulnerabilities. This is why we would recommend Karma. She is great at poking out enemy ADCs' early on with her empowered Q, she can heal and shield the ADC, and has CC to lock Tristana in place if she gets greedy. Tristana will not be able to jump in if she is too low health to do anything.

Alternative counter-pick to Tristana at support

If you're looking for a more tankier set of champions if poke and utility are not you're thing, then don't worry, we've got you covered. Nautilus is an excellent support and really doesn't have many bad matchups. Tristana really struggles into a Nautilus that knows what they're doing. It's a game of cat and mouse really, the Tristana has to hold on to her W for as long as possible just incase Nautilus is able to engage onto her.
There are a couple of ways you can bait out the Tristana's W as Nautilus. Firstly, if you feel you and your ADC has enough damage to kill her, then flash + auto attack will root her in place, forcing her to either flash away or rocket jump away. By then, you still have your hook and ultimate to use while she has no tools of escaping. The second method is simply using your utlimate because you're going to want to save your hook for after she jumps to guarantee she has no chance of survival.
Best Tristana mid counter

We have also got you covered in the event you come up against a Tristana in the mid lane. She's just as strong, if not stronger as a solo laner despite Riot Games's efforts to push her solely back towards the bottom lane. Cassiopeia is a Tristana mid counter if you're looking for a champion that can hold their own against Tristana in League of Legends. Tristana is still an ADC at heart, and their health stats early on are not going to be great in comparison to other mid lane champions.
On top of that, Cassiopeia can throw down her W which grounds champions from using movement abilities. Meaning if you feel Tristana is going to engage onto you, throw down the ability and she can't move anywhere. On top of that, Cassi's ultimate stuns enemy champions in place, meaning if she does get her W off, she can be stunned.
