When to save vs. force buy?

Just played a game, and we totally threw the last round because we had no money left. Some of us force-bought earlier when we probably shouldn’t have, and by the final round, we were stuck with pistols against full rifles. So now I’m wondering—when is the right time to save, and when should we force buy?
