The winter update for Dota 2, Quortero, has been released—a patch weighing about 600 MB that effectively brings back a seasonal event that has appeared before. Along with the release, developers added new cosmetics, hidden files hint at future events, and the seasonal activity now has specific dates for its duration.

New Cosmetics and Megaultraspecial Rare Item

The main addition includes new winter sets for Shadow Shaman, Axe, and Shadow Fiend. All three heroes received seasonally themed skins. Additionally, the game introduced the Megaultraspecial Rare Quortero—an item of heightened exclusivity, which traditionally has an extremely low drop rate. The Megaultraspecial Rare Quortero is a unique reward that players receive at level 5 of the seasonal pass. This time, developers have significantly expanded the contents of the set.

Features of the Megaultraspecial Rare Item:

• Players are offered one of five random megaultraspecial sets.
• The selection is randomly formed from hundreds of sets released in previous years.
• Some options have a chance to contain items of Immortal or even Arcana rarity, making this rare item one of the most appealing in recent seasons.

Essentially, it's a high-rarity loot box offering a chance to obtain exclusive items from old collections—including those long unavailable in the game.

Event Dates

The Winter Quortero will be available until March 6, 2026. This is one of the longest-running Quorteros in recent years, allowing players ample time to collect rewards or obtain rare items.

Hints of a New Bard Frog Event

Data miners have already examined the fresh files and discovered a direct mention of Frogling—the Bard Frog Event. A new unit, bard_frogling, was also found in the game, featuring about 50 animations, indicating the character's significance and an upcoming game event. Details are still unknown.

Return of Old Cosmetic Items

Another new feature is the ability to purchase cosmetics from last year's "Quortero Curiosities" set using Dota+ shards. Now players can obtain missed items without participating in the marketplace.
