Valve announces the location and date for The International 2025

The premier event on the professional Dota 2 scene, The International, attracts fans of the game from all corners of the globe. Although nearly a year remains until the upcoming tournament, Valve has officially announced the date and location for The International 2025.

Official Announcement

Last night, an announcement appeared on the official Dota 2 website. Valve revealed that the 2025 event would return to its roots and disclosed both the date and location of the tournament.

Details

The upcoming tournament will take place in Germany in mid-September, similar to the 2024 event. While the exact dates are not fully confirmed, details about the playoff matches have been announced:

  • Dates: Playoff stage from September 11 to September 15
  • Location: Barclays Arena, Hamburg, Germany
  • Participating Teams: 16

The organizers emphasize the significance of The International returning to Germany, the country where it all began. The first The International in 2011 was held in Cologne at the Koelnmesse Arena, where the Ukrainian team Natus Vincere triumphed, earning the title of the strongest team and a $1,000,000 prize.

For the next 13 years, The International was hosted in various cities worldwide but never returned to Germany. This makes the upcoming event particularly meaningful for long-time fans of the discipline who have followed it for the past 14 years.
