The Voice of Viper and Dragon Knight, Tody Todd, Passed Away

Today November 9th, the Dota 2 community mourns the passing of a legend in the game. Tony Todd, the voice of Dota 2 heroes - Viper and Dragon Knight - has passed away, leaving a heartfelt legacy in the Dota universe.

The community shared their despair, with the voice of Dota 2, Wykrhm Reddy, posting a tribute for the storied voice actor. Tony Todd also lent his voice for the character Slyrak, one of the few Eldwurms in Dragon Knight's lore.

Tony Todd's Renowned Voicelines in Dota 2

A lot of players would recognize Tony Todd's hero responses almost immediately. Some of his most memorable lines include:

  • Viper: "Prepare for poison."
  • Viper: "Air support arrives."
  • Dragon Knight: "Who calls the dragon knight?"
  • Dragon Knight: "The dragon comes for war."

Tony Todd also played the role of Slyrak in the DOTA: Dragon's Blood, a Dota anime launched in 2021. His deep and charismatic voice as the elderly dragon had captivated fans. He voiced Slyrak in all three seasons of the show.

Tony Todd's voice will forever be immortalized in the realm of Dota 2 and the hearts of passionate players. For almost two decades, he was a great voice that accompanied these Dota 2 characters, undoubtedly decorating the childhood memories of many long-time players.

While most of us know Tony Todd from his chilling hero voicelines, the American talent also have massive contributions outside of the Dota 2 universe. He is a star in the horror scene, having played the protagonist of the 1992 Candyman. 

The world mourns a phenomenal artist. Rest in peace, Tony Todd.
