A Reddit post has surfaced from a user who encountered a serious bug related to the hero Broodmother in Dota 2. In a match with ID 8291035504, the player's team lost structures despite having active backdoor protection. The cause was an unusual mechanic involving the ability Spawn Spiderlings (Q) and game pauses.
As the post's author explains, the team was initially puzzled about how Broodmother managed to destroy a tower under backdoor protection. However, upon reviewing the replay, it became clear: the player controlling Broodmother, having purchased Aghanim's Shard, used Q, then applied Refresher, and activated Q again. After this, they initiated a series of pauses, during which the damage from the ability continued to accumulate.
When the pauses ended, the hero dealt over 15,000 damage to the base structures — enough to demolish the tower despite the protection.
The user also noted that Dota 2's built-in replay tool only records 18 seconds, making it difficult to see the full picture. At the time of publication, Valve had not commented on the situation. The community is anticipating an urgent fix to the mechanic, as the bug provides an unfair advantage and directly affects the outcome of matches.
